latimes21309capture Why We Know Rob Accoring the LA Times

Why we know him: He plays tall, pale and bloodthirsty as dreamy vampire Edward in the “Twilight” film, based on the popular young adult novel.

Can be seen: All over the Internet ranging from industry and news sites like E! Online and MSNBC to gossip, teen, horror and international celebrity sites. Shooting Twilight

Twilighters in need of a fix before Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster sequel New Moon arrives in theaters thought they needed to wait until March 27 to see Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart again. That’s the day their new movies open: Little Ashes (Rob’s, a Salvador Dalí biopic) and Adventureland (Kristen’s, an ’80s comedy.) But it turns out fans can see their Twilight favorites much sooner. On March 17 Little, Brown will publish the detailed on-set journal that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke kept throughout filming.

New Translation Mexican magazine 15 a 20

15a20 228x300 New Translation Mexican magazine 15 a 20

Thank you to Vale from Twilight Poison for this translation.

Here’s the translation of a great interview with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Mexican magazine 15 a 20, November edition. It gives us great insight and details of what goes on before these kinds of interviews. PLUS, Robert mentions a scene that didn’t make it to the final cut of the movie.

I’m in a hotel where the interview will take place. Robert is late, although understandably so. He’s been doing interviews all day, so I try to be patient. Suddenly, the door opens and Robert walks in apologizing with a very thick British accents that makes you melt. He’s tall and thin, he has a very pale skin. He’s wearing jeans and a T-shirt under another shirt. He’s hair is messy and it looks as though he had fallen asleep. He plays with a bottle of coke. When he finally sits down we start out interview…

What made you want to be in this movie? Had you read the books?
No, I hadn’t read them, so I didn’t know how to play my character. When I was reading the script I remember telling my agent “I can’t do this. It’s physically impossible to do this”.

Why did you think that?
Because it’s not just acting. The character has these amazing physical qualities that are impossible to have: he has a great body, he’s gorgeous. So I thought they were going to say to me “No, thank you, next”. Honestly I went to the audition without preparing. I didn’t know the lines or anything and Kristen was there. I didn’t know she was going to be Bella. She was very strong as Bella in the audition, so that gave me a clue as to how to play the character.

In the beginning the fans of the book were not very thrilled about you playing Edward. What kind of pressure did it make you feel?
If you try to do things just to please the fans you’re going to deliver a bad performance. So I made the decision of playing Edward a certain way, and I said “that’s it, I don’t care what people say”. And I tried really hard to not make the character cheesy. But I think that since I’m a guy and it’s a girls book I felt I needed to find something else. So I had to dive in, deeper than most of the people who read the book.

Was it fun playing a vampire?
I don’t think I’m playing a vampire. I don’t think I even look like one, do I? (laughs) I would’ve loved it if Edward had been the typical vampire we’re all familiar with, because the vampires in Twilight are too weird. They’re very pale, they have strange eyes, but they’re so normal and they can live in the real world without rasing any suspicions. On the other hand, it was very fun. I had to do action sequences and I had to climb trees (laughs).

You mention real vampires, are you a fan of vampire movies?
Well, in this film I’m not scary. I’m not like Nosferatu. I want to be that kind of vampire, that would be cool. But as you know, this film is not about vampire clichés, so I played him like he had a disease, like you’re not the same person after someone bites you because you wake up three days later wanting to kill people. You’re a thousand times stronger and faster, and you’re going to live forever and if you think about it, that must be horrible!

What was the hardest part of playing Edward?
Edward has a certain aura that makes people be scared of him instinctively and they don’t know why. I really love that, but I think that’s hard to show on screen so I would imagine him as a lion who was in the jungle surrounded by animals, they know he’s not hunting but they keep their distance. And that was something I really wanted to add to the movie, in fact there’s a scene in which all the birds literally fly away as soon as I walk by, and this gives you the idea. But I think that was the hardest thing to show (he pauses). Well that, and being the most beautiful man in the world! (laughs). But there’s nothing I could do about that.

In the movie Edward is suppossed to be 17 years old. If they make the next movies, what are they going to do to keep the character looking young?
With botox! (laughs) No, actually I am a bit worried about that. I don’t know, I guess we’ll have to shoot them pretty quickly.

I know you play the piano, and in the book Edward plays a song in the piano for Bella. Are you playing the piano in the movie?
Yes, I’m playing a song written by Carter Burwell.

Are they adding any songs by you on the soundtrack?
There’s one or two songs by me in the movie, although I don’t know what they’re doing there! (laughs). It’s one of the most bizarre moments in the film, because I’m in a scene with Kristen and there’s me singing in the background, I can hear myself playing the guitar and my voice singing, but my face is just there talking.

After playing Cedric Diggory in the Goblet of Fire, were you worried of repeating yourself with another book series?
Yes, but it’s a very different role and story.

I know you read a manuscript that Stephenie Meyer wrote from Edward’s point of view in order to prepare yourself for the role…
Yes, I read it when we were in the middle of filming, and since the book of Twilight was written from Bella’s point of view and she never really knows what Edward is because he lies and he hides stuff all the time, I had all the freedom to play him as I wanted to. And even though in the book you read only positive things about Edward, when you see the real situation he’s completely negative. Imagine waking up one day saying “I didn’t ask to become a vampire. And now I want to kill a bunch of people and I feel terrible. I don’t want to die but I don’t want to live like this either. I found the only person in the world that makes me feel like I want to keep on living, but I want to kill her too”, that has to be horrible.

How did you develope your vampire abilities? I read you wrote a journal as Edward. Are you planning on publishing that?It wasn’t exactly a journal. I don’t know how it started (laughs) but I hadn’t realized how difficult it was going to be to play Edward until I started reading the script. He’s a very complex character. So I moved to Portland on my own two or three months before filming began and I didn’t do anything but read the script and books to find anything that helped me play him. So I started to write things. I mean, if you really prepare for a role, there’s going to be a moment in which he’s all you can think of. So I did things like little suicide notes. I was a little worrysome actually (bursts out laughing).

In my opinion Rob and Zac should not be compared. They are way different in the acting world, but here is a question EOnline has….

With all the Twilight/Edward Cullen/Rob Pattinson craziness, we kinda forgot about that other teen idol who’s not a sparkling vampire.

OK Magazine Interview Translated

by Jen on January 28, 2009

Robert’s interview for OK magazine.

How do you feel when little girls get very excited to you, as if you
were a rockstar?

To be honest, I take it as something that has nothing to do with me.
They are excited for my character Edward, which is the representation
of the perfect guy.

Has fame agreed with you?
It?s a fenomenon that doesn?t seem to end, and my brain hasn?t
finished processing it. Everytime I see the fans it tuns into
something quite bizarre. In Mexico, Italy and now in the United States
where I?ve been promoting. People have reacted with screams and I?m
just gettin used to the idea.

Any weird fan anecdotes?
There was a group of girls that left little notes in my car, outside
of my apartment. One of the first notes said: ?I?m not weird, but
please call me?. The next day the note said: ?Please don?t ignore me?
and the next day it said ?I?m going to kill myself if you keep
ignoring me! (but I?m not weird, ok?)?.

How did you prepare for the role of Edward?

I based my performance on James Dean?s Rebel without a cause because I
thought it would be fun to have that style for a vampire. I changed a
bit my entire body languaged, Iran a lot, I practiced box for two
hours a day for two months and I can honestly say I had never been so
fit. Oddly enough, I?ve never been good in sports.

How was your relationship with Kristen Stewart?
Kristen in amazing, and your first impulse is to ask her for her phone
number. But then I forced myself to remember that 90% of what you do
on screen is acting and make things up. I enjoyed the process of
creating these characters with her. We would spend all night talking
about our scenes and the next day we would defend out points of view.
That creative energy made us have a very special bond.

What can you say to parents who see the movie poster in which you?re
seducing a young girl?
They should keep in mind that vampires can?t have sex (?). That theme
is very important for parents, because in the books there?s an
underlying message of abstinence and how important it is. I also think
that the character of Bella in kind of a role model because she?s
sensitive and passionate. To be honest, the content in Twilight is
pretty harmless.

What were you like as a teenager?

I loved to go to the movies. I saw tons of movies. I used to write a
lot too. I considered myself a writer.

Is it true you hate to change clothes?
Yes, I rarely do it. For this interview I wore this clean pair of
jeans, but there have been moments were I can?t even stand my own smell.

Is this a tradition of yours or something?
I just have very few clothes that I like. And I?m always traveling, so
I have no time to wash it. It?s pathetic, why am I telling you this?

How can you manage to make your hair stand up like that?
I have it like this since I rolled out of bed. It?s just grease. I
just don?t wash it, ever.

Did you go through some sort of trauma while showering when you were a kid?My dad loved to brush my hair and I hated that. It?s funny how part of
my personality has a lot to do with my hair.

Describe your bedroom. My bedroom in my parents house hasn?t changed much since I was 10. But
the room where I sleep right now is very disgusting. Possible not very
sanitary. It?s like a bum lives in there. It?s like an animal?s cage.

What to do you do on your time off?I watch movies, I read, I play all kinds of music. Honestly, I?m not
that very interesting.

What?s your type of girl?I don?t know, my tastes change all the time. I used to love crazy
girls who were hard to get. But not anymore. Right now I don?t have a
special type.

Are you dating anyone? No, I?m promoting the movie right now.

Leonardo DiCaprio said he was glad you came along, because now you?ll
take his place as the actor adored by teens
Wow! That?s really cool. I didn?t know that. He?s had the best career
amongst all the other young actors. I would love to have that kind of
career.

In real life, would you stay with a girl to protect her?
If anyone needs me to protect her, I will. But unlike my character,
I?m not overprotective at all.

People.com has a small article on Little Ashes.

In his next movie, Little Ashes, set in 1922 and described by Variety as an “arty Bohemian romp,” the London-born actor, 22, plays Spanish surrealist painter (1904-1989) Salvador Dalí as a young man – in love with the poet Federico GarcÍa Lorca, played by Javier Beltran.

The two meet at university, with Lorca attracted to what the movie’s production notes call Dalí’s “bizarre blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism.” Hey, beats a bite in the neck.

Little Ashes opens in late March.

Another great MTV article, including Robert Pattinson talks about Little Ashes.

Robert Pattinson
After making millions of girls want to have a vampire love affair in “Twilight,” English heartthrob Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Edward Cullen in this year’s “New Moon.” But he also hopes to wow audiences as the young surrealist painter Salvador Dalí in the film “Little Ashes,” which chronicles the early life of the brilliant artist and explores his romantic relationship with poet Federico García Lorca, played by Javier Beltran.

Remember, Laura Culpepper who the MTV Guest Blogger Contest.

In 2008, “Twilight” superfan Laura Culpepper won a contest to be our MTV Movie Awards guest blogger. Now she’s an MTV News intern.

It comes as no surprise that Robert Pattinson is one of this year’s Male Pop MVPs. In a matter of months, the “Twilight” star skyrocketed from anonymity to become one of the most adored (and screamed at) actors who has probably ever lived.

Here’s a blast from the past.

I can’t agree more with the writer of this article.

I don’t have much to offer on the subject of one of the most googled celebrities in 2008 – Robert Pattinson, with the exception of sympathy and hope. Sympathy would be the most prevalent thought. Sympathy for him that he can not take a breath without someone snapping a picture or writing about it and sympathy that he is besieged with hordes of screaming people wherever he goes.
