Time Out London Interview with Rob

by Jen on November 17, 2009

Al from Time Out London has given RobPattinson.com an exclusive quote from their upcoming interview with Robert Pattinson.

Rob on his future acting plans:
‘Annoyingly there are so few parts I feel I can add anything to or that I
want to do. And I don’t particularly want to be an actor for the sake of
being an actor. I don’t really find any particular pleasure in just being
an attention-seeker.’

‘New Moon’ Delivers! Here Are Five Reasons We Think Fans Will Agree The ‘Twilight’ sequel’s acting, look and action improve on the original, making us eager for ‘Eclipse.’

Yep, we’ve seen “New Moon.” And the best news we can give you might be this: We want to see it again. And again.

Most of us here at MTV News make no secret of the fact that we’re fans of the franchise, and if you’re reading this story, we know you’ll see this latest “Twilight” installment — which is why we wanted to write something that doesn’t so much say, “See this movie,” as it says, “Don’t worry; this movie is all you’re hoping for.”

So, after a few days of reflection, here’s our spoiler-free list of the ways that “New Moon” delivers:

The Acting Is Better

Maybe it’s because the franchise’s stars are one year older. Perhaps it’s because of director Chris Weitz. Or, most likely, the stars have the confidence of now knowing that these films will be seen by millions and are feeling more comfortable stepping into the skin of the characters they’ll be known as forever. Whatever the reason, every returning actor is better in this film than in “Twilight.” Most notable is Taylor Lautner — who displays incredible screen presence and physicality in his first true starring role — and Kristen Stewart, who perfectly conveys the heartbreak and insanity of Bella’s fractured mental state with every scream, sob and adrenaline-fueled wicked grin.

Here start the reviews!!!

If the first instalment of The Twilight Saga was a celebration of teenage sulkiness, then this sequel positively drowns in it. As Bella, Kristen Stewart is pure ‘heroin chic’, though it isn’t drugs that means she’s looking so pale; it’s being dumped by her bloodsucking vampire soul-mate Edward (Robert Pattinson doing his James Dean impression) because he worries for her soul. Sigh… But it, like, totally sucks because he leaves town, which means all the girls who come to watch this movie hoping for two-plus hours of drool-worthy close-ups might feel, like, totally frustrated.

Taylor Lautner hogs most of the screen-time as rosy-cheeked Native American kid, Jacob. His feelings for Bella run deeper as their friendship becomes closer and even she starts to look at him in a different light; most notably when he whips off his shirt to reveal washboard abs. In the moonlight, he’s even more imposing and much, much hairier. He’s a werewolf but – yes, you guessed it – he’s a bit reluctant about the whole bloodthirsty killing part. Bizarrely though, it’s only when Jacob turns into a giant CG Lycanthrope that he becomes interesting. Unfortunately, Lautner has all the charisma of aforementioned washboard. No wonder Bella can’t get over Edward.

Their separation is made more sweetly painful by spooky visions of you-know-who that coincide with moments of great danger. Hence, Bella becomes a biker babe. Of course in the mountainous backwoods where she lives, she can only go so far off the rails. This entire adrenalin-fuelled exercise is lamely unconvincing, like The Fast & The Furious meets Sweet Valley High. However, for the film’s producers, it means Pattinson fans can get an ethereal flash of him at carefully measured intervals. (Swoon…) Still, it’s left to Jacob to bare fangs when bitchy vamp Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) shows up baying for Bella’s blood. It’s a score she needs to settle with Edward after he did away with the un-dead love of her non-life in part one.

VANCOUVER – Vampires and werewolves have different fitness needs, says local trainer Nathan Mellalieu.
Here is a little info on the training Rob and company did for the stunts in Eclipse. See isn’t that bad at stunts anymore. You go Rob!

“Vampires are designed to be elegant, I think,” says Mellalieu, owner of Studeo 55, where he says he and his staff worked out about 15 of the cast of Eclipse, the latest in the Twilight series to be filmed in Vancouver.

The second film in the teenage vampire saga, New Moon, opens in theatres on Thursday.

“Werewolves are a little more rugged,” Mellalieu says. “They’re a little brawnier, a little bit bigger, a little more raw.”
